Legal Implications of Global Climate Change: Understanding Business Risks, Options and Choices
A two-hour webinar bringing together the latest information and insights for businesses concerned about liability and litigation from global climate change impacts. With businesses being bombarded with allegations, questions and advice, this webinar is designed to distill current information and provide a “blueprint” for action.
Background:
The impacts of global climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have landed in the courts. Litigation against businesses for damages from global warming continues to grow. Businesses, of all sizes, are now looking closely at how global climate change may affect their operations and legal responsibilities. In addition, investor groups controlling trillions of dollars in assets are demanding that businesses respond to these potential impacts and liabilities through shareholder actions. Even businesses that are not perceived to be directly involved in GHG emissions are facing possible exposure and liability. Legal experts have asserted that the current wave of legal activity is reminiscent of the tobacco industry lawsuits thought at first to be inconsequential, but later resulted in massive impacts and costs. Businesses need to understand how these developments may affect them and must formulate strategies for reducing risk exposure. The biggest risk now appears to be the act of doing nothing.
The Vista Energy Group, known for providing energy and environmental intelligence and strategies to the business marketplace, presents this webinar targeted to provide up-to-date knowledge of the evolving legal landscape and identify ways for companies to better position themselves to address potential liabilities.
